Genah Melukat Sebatu (Pesiraman Dalem Pingit) is a sacred purification site in Sebatu Village, Tegallalang, Gianyar. Tucked in a forested valley, this holy waterfall is used by Balinese Hindus to perform melukat, a water ritual believed to cleanse spiritual impurities and emotional burdens.
Discovered in 2007, the site is associated with Dewi Uma and Dewi Gangga, and is known for its powerful, spring-fed waterfall. Devotees stand beneath the cascade after praying at nearby shrines, following a sacred process with offerings like pejati and kwangen. The ritual is deeply personal, and some report symbolic experiences such as changes in water color or emotional release.
This is a place of worship, visitors must dress respectfully and observe local customs, with entry restrictions for menstruating, pregnant, or mourning individuals. Peaceful and profound, Sebatu’s melukat site offers a rare glimpse into Bali’s living spiritual traditions.
